Using the site means you accept what follows. We have tried to write it the way we write everything else — in sentences.

01 What we provide

We generate an original murder-mystery case from your description, email each guest a private dossier, and give you a web app that runs the evening. We are a writing and hosting service. We do not attend, cater or referee your dinner.

02 Who can use it

You must be 18 or over to create a case. Guests can be any age you consider appropriate for a story you have read first — that judgement is yours, and we recommend reading the case before the night if children will be at the table.

03 Your guests

When you enter someone's name and email address you are confirming that they are happy to be invited to dinner by you. Do not use the service to send anything to anyone who would not want it. We honour any guest's request to be removed as soon as we can, without asking you first.

04 Written by a machine

Cases are generated by a language model from your prompt. They are fiction. If you put real people's names in your description, the story will use them — and that is your decision, not our endorsement. Do not use real names in a way that would be defamatory, harassing or cruel. We may refuse or remove a case that describes real violence, targets a real person maliciously, or breaks the law. You own the case we write for you; you may run it, print it and reuse it. You may not resell it as a commercial product.

05 Paying, and refunds

Writing a case is free. You pay when you send the invitations, and the price is shown before you do. If the night fails because of us — dossiers not delivered, the app down when you needed it — tell us and we refund it in full, no argument. If the night fails because nobody read their dossier, we will sympathise, but that is dinner.

06 The boring necessities

The service is provided as it is, and we cannot promise it will never be interrupted. Our liability is limited to what you paid us. We may change these terms; material changes will be emailed to anyone with an active case. These terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which the company is registered.
